The SouthEnd Family-Friendly route is great for families with young children and novice cyclists. This route highlights the protected Rail Trail and low-volume neighborhood streets of LoSo and SouthEnd.

The Uptown Loop takes riders into Uptown via the Rail Trail and S. Tryon Street bridge. In addition to seeing all the cultural sights Uptown has to offer, you will also get to experience a temporary protected bike lane pilot project on 6th Street in place only for Biketoberfest.

New stops are being added every day!

Last October 2017, almost 600 participants, over 100 volunteers, 32 sponsors, 2 routes and 2 protected bike lanes all came together to create a unique urban adventure to show people how easy it is to get around in Charlotte without driving!

The pictures and video speak for themselves!  Check out our Facebook page to see Biketoberfest photos and watch our video recap below. Thank you to everyone who volunteered their time and talent to make this event possible!  We couldn’t have done it without you. Read the full recap of the 2017 event here.

All proceeds will benefit Sustain Charlotte and our Bicycle Program!

Volunteer Opportunities

Biketoberfest is so big and has so many moving parts, we can accommodate any volunteer style. On Saturday, October 13th, Sustain Charlotte is partnering with the City of Charlotte Department of Transportation to create a three-block pilot protected bike lane demonstration project on 6th Street. Volunteers will actively participate and be assigned tasks that include (and are not limited to) painting the street, moving buffers, and repositioning signage.

For Sunday, we have more traditional volunteer roles like checking in Biketoberfest participants, hosting sponsor locations, and distributing t-shirts. All three-hour shifts earn volunteers a free ticket and if registered before October 4th, a free t-shirt. Learn more about our volunteer opportunities and sign up here.
