Sustain Charlotte hosts second annual awards Saturday

Sustain Charlotte will announce the winners of its second annual Community Sustainability Awards on Saturday.

The nonprofit organization, which advocates for environmental sensitivity in business practices, says the finalists for its awards are: Ron Ahlert, Ray Atkinson, Alice Battle, Ryan Bennett, Phil Berman, Allison Billings, Lynn Shanklin Caldwell, Amber Coffman, Gwen Cook, Kristin Davis, Vince DiFrancesco, Lisa Donovan, Geoff Fey, Daniel Fogarty, Nadine Ford, Jim Garges, Rick Gaskin, Bill Gupton, Regina Guyer, Kristina Held, Beth Henry, Chuck Howard, Shannon Johnson, Michael Kirschman, Todd Kistler, Craig Lewis, Tom Low, Terry Lynn, Chris Matthews, Claire Naisby, Barney Offerman, Chatham Olive, Cassie Parsons, Ellen Payne, Keith Pehl, Danny Pleasant, Elaine Powell, Brad Redden, Leslie Rhodes, Matt Shaw, Diana Shell, Lauren Steele, Charles Thomas, David Valder, Jaime Walker, David Walters, Jennifer White, Jake Wilson and Dick Winters.

Charlotte Center City Partners Chief Executive Michael Smith will open the event. The night’s emcee is WBTV meteorologist Kelly Franson.

Tickets are still available for the event, which runs from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the 7th Street Public Market, 224 E. Seventh St.

The awards program includes a three-course meal that features local food, live music and a cash bar that includes beer from Charlotte brewers OMB and Birdsong Brewing.

General tickets are $55 or $35 for Sustain Charlotte members, K-12 teachers, students or nonprofit employees.
