Sustain Charlotte hosts alternative transportation forum Thursday, launches group

The first forum for a group focused on alternative options for transportation in Charlotte as a way to improve the environment will be held Thursday.

It’s officially dubbed the Transportation Choices Alliance. Local nonprofit Sustain Charlotte is launching the alliance and hosting the inaugural event that starts at 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at UNC Charlotte’s Center City building.

The forum features author and photographer Julie Campoli. She’ll be discussing her book, Made for Walking: Neighborhood Density and Urban Form.

More than 125 people have already registered for the free event.

The idea for the Transportation Choices Alliance was born out of a meeting held by Sustain Charlotte in July, according to plancharlotte.org.

The group’s mission statement is to "increase transportation choices and their use throughout the Charlotte region to improve traffic, air quality, public health, mobility, and the economy."
