SUSTAIN CHARLOTTE AWARDS
PiES won 2nd place in the Sustainable Economy category at Wednesday’s 2015 Sustain Charlotte Awards + Earth Day Celebration at the Historic Palmer Building in East Charlotte. A total of 31 winners in various categories were honored in front of a crowd of more than 300.
PiES is a nonprofit “green business” incubator founded in 2011 that helps nurture green business startups. The organization is led by a board of business and academic experts and provides office space, training, business advice and education and networking opportunities.
Wednesday’s dinner in Charlotte recognized nonprofits, government agencies, businesses, and neighborhood associations for helping to advance “Charlotte 2030: A Sustainable Vision for Our Region,” an initiative that Sustain Charlotte launched in 2010.
Guests included Charlotte Mayor Dan Clodfelter and City Council Members Alvin Austin, John Autry, Vi Lyles, Greg Phipps, Patsy Kinsey, and LaWana Mayfield, as well as Mecklenburg County Commissioners Pat Cotham and Trevor Fuller. Terri Bennett, co-founder of Do Your Part, was the emcee.
