Weekly Brief January 20!

Last Wednesday night the leadership team of the Sustain Charlotte Community Corps (SCCC) met for the first time! We had a great discussion at The Broken Spoke (attached to The Great Wagon Road Distilling Co.) on how we will be moving forward with our work in the Grier Heights neighborhood based on the community's identified needs. We are so impressed with the amount of passion and commitment of this group and can't wait to get started! We'll soon be gathering with the entire SCCC volunteer group to review what was discussed at this meeting and ways to get involved moving forward. Stay tuned!Interested in getting involved? Click here! Continue reading

Our Walk Your Neighborhood launch made quite an impact! Over 125 residents from Belmont, Plaza Midwood, Commonwealth Morningside, Commonwealth Park, Chantilly, and Elizabeth came out to #WalkCLT on Saturday! Thanks to #thesavageway and our amazing volunteers, pedestrian wayfinding signs are now in place at both ground and eye-level. These signs tell residents how many minutes it will take to walk to eight destinations such as the nearest grocery store, antique shop, park or yoga studio. We are so proud to have such great resident and business support of this initiative, powered by OrthoCarolina, that promotes walking as a form of transportation! Continue reading
