Residents volunteer across Charlotte to support safer walk to bus stops
20 committed volunteers participated in our Monroe Road Walk2Transit tour!
Sidewalks that end in muddy lawns. Faded crosswalks. Four lanes of 45mph traffic with no signalized intersections (traffic lights) in sight. A flattened decaying possum in the middle of the sidewalk.
No, this isn't a twisted game of Jeopardy. These are actual challenges that were identified during our two Walk2Transit bus stop walkability tours last week!
Tell us why you give to Sustain Charlotte and WIN a Biketoberfest 2017 ticket!

How Generational Wealth is Created in Charlotte Real Estate [Charlotte Agenda]
"Families who bought homes in Charlotte’s affluent neighborhoods in the 90s have made a tidy profit on their investment over the last two decades...But the news isn’t all good. Neighborhoods in the crescent around the center city haven’t shared in the gains the broader market has enjoyed." As our city continues to rapidly grow, we must be aware of geographic differences in property value appreciation and how that affects generational wealth and social equity.
Boomers, Millennials, and the McMansions No One Wants [realtor.com]
“What's really attracting millennials are the communities that are bringing the urban flavor out to nonurban towns...They don’t want the traditional massive homes and big yards. They want smaller homes and cool things to do.” It's important that Charlotte keeps investing in bike, pedestrian and transit infrastructure that create vibrant places where people of all ages desire to live!
