Many thanks to our amazing volunteers and community partners for their support at the Fresh Expo!

Did you know that Sustain Charlotte staff and volunteers educate thousands of people each year during community events? In addition to organizing our own outreach events and programming, we love to partner with other organizations at their events. It's an awesome way to reach new audiences and have a lot of fun at the same time!

Spring is typically our busiest time of year for community events, and 2017 has been no exception. This past Saturday, our staff and volunteers educated, engaged, and united area residents at three unique community events. Read more.

Tell CDOT about your experience riding on the Plaza protected bike lane demo!

From May 7th to May 14th, the Charlotte Department of Transportation implemented a separated bicycle lane demonstration project on The Plaza between Central Avenue and Belvedere Avenue.

City staff monitored the demonstration during the week-long test period, and another part of the data collection is this public survey.  If you traveled along The Plaza during the week of the demonstration project, the City would appreciate your input! Take the quick survey here.

Robust Growth Continues for Most – But Not All – Places in Charlotte Region [The Charlotte Observer]

"Charlotte saw a growth rate of 15.1 percent through last year. That’s among the biggest growth rates in North Carolina for the state’s largest cities. Only Cary, Huntersville and Durham saw a higher rate during that time, for places with 50,000 or more residents. Charlotte remains by far the most populous site in the Carolinas, with Raleigh a distant second at 458,880." We often talk about how rapidly Charlotte's population is growing and why we need to make more sustainable land use and transportation choices. Read this article to find out which 5 area towns are growing even faster than Charlotte, and where is population growth slower!
