The Sustain Charlotte Community Corps (SCCC) is a diverse group of volunteers who support sustainability in Charlotte through social, educational and fundraising activities and events.
Kickoff of the SCCC on November 12, 2015
Our mission is to partner with local communities and organizations of Charlotte to raise awareness and improve on the fundamentals of sustainability, including the following key issues:
- Air Quality
- Equity and Empowerment
- Jobs and Income
- Land Use
SCCC volunteers are partnering with neighborhood residents to build sustainable communities!
In 2016 our volunteers are partnering with the residents of Grier Heights, a Charlotte neighborhood that is participating in Sustain Charlotte’s Sustainable Neighborhoods Program (visit www.sustaincharlotte.org/initiatives to learn more). We're taking a deep dive into how the residents want to see their own community flourish. By utilizing the resources in our city, we all will work alongside those residents to help them make their community vision become a reality.
SCCC Volunteer Roles and Opportunities
The Coordinator of the Sustain Charlotte Community Corps for 2016 is Josh Banning, assisted by 3 chairs for the various initiatives, chairs who identify additional community resources, and chairs who communicate directly with the neighborhood residents.
The heart of the SCCC is YOU!
Overall, we are looking to create positive change and building relationships throughout Charlotte. By utilizing volunteer effort and all of our community resources, together we will create sustainability in each community we work with and continue to support the amazing mission of Sustain Charlotte. Please join us in that effort!
